Licensed immigration advisers and registered migration agents are governed by the respective Code of Conduct mandated by the licensing and registration authorities in New Zealand and Australia. The Code is intended to protect client's interests and you must, in your own interest, always deal with a licensed immigration adviser and registered migration agent. Licensing is mandatory for New Zealand immigration advisers whether based onshore or offshore and it is an offence to provide New Zealand immigration advice and service unless licensed or exempted. There have been instances of unlicensed advisers and non-registered migration agents having provided poor quality service, charged exorbitant fees, not handled clients money properly and/or misplacing important documents including passports. Licensing and registration provides protection, dispute resolution and remedies to clients in the event of default and you should in your own interest always deal with licensed adviser and registered migration agent.
